Restaurant recommendations

Restaurants change all the time however here's our current recommendations.

Fish Market Area

This is an area just off one of the main streets and is a paved, pedestrianised and full of small fish and meat restaurants. The street has several fresh fish and meat shops and you can choose from them your fish and meat and then the restaurant will cook it for you. It is not very touristy and has a great local atmosphere. Walking distance.

Excellent restaurant for a very varied selection of Turkish Mezes and fresh fısh. We recommend their grilled octopus and fried calamari. Always choose your fish and ask the price before they cook it!! Fish is not cheap in Turkey. They have a good selection of Turkish wine and you must try the traditional drink of Raki which they always drink wıth fish. A favourite with the locals so always get Reception to book a table for you. Walking distance.

A very traditional restaurant serving excellent mezes and fresh fish. This restaurant is hidden away in the more residantial area of Bodrum and will require a taxi to take you there. The decor is very simple and the prices very moderate ,but the quality excellent.

Sünger Pizza

Cheap and cheerful. It is always crowded with lots of local Turkish people and the sailing crowd.
If you venture on to the roof there are tremendous views across the Harbour towards the castle. The personality of the place reflects the local well-known owner. The menu is large and varied, anything from a pizza to traditional dishes and steaks. Walking distance.

Marina Yacht Club

This venue has rapidly become one of our favourite Bodrum night spots. Beautifully fitted out it boast’s three restaurants. The Marina Yacht Club restaurant serves an international cuisine, where it would be hard to find something you did not like. A Turkish style restaurant and an Italian Bistro as well as the open air restaurant upstairs. Upstairs has outstanding views of the harbour coupled with superb presentation of the food, but not a place to go if there is a wind blowing as it is quite open. The menus offer a selection of meat and fish dishes and some traditional Otterman style, pricing is very moderate and quality is good.  After 10.30 there is good to excellent music ranging from Jazz to Cuban dancing and lounge lizard music. We love it – but don’t forget to ask us to book at peak season!

The live outdoor music is available to the general public but beware the bar prices are rather high! Walking distance.

Kocadon Restaurant

This is a beautiful walled courtyard where the atmosphere is so very romantic and the service second to none. It is owned by the chef and his wife, he being Turkish and she being Dutch. The waiters are very smartly turned out in all white, bow ties included. The menu is expensive, but excellent. The set menu is very good value and the meze starter by far the best value for money. The wine is pricey, but if you are looking for that perfect romantic dinner then this is the place to go. Walking distance.

Booking is essential. Walking distance.

This is a very popular bar and brasserie where you can sit outside take a drink and enjoy Bodrum cafe society at its best!  It is a very buzzy, buzzy place and has just introduced the Bodrum society to Guiness! The menu is very varied and inludes fish and meat and tends to have more of a European flair. It is always busy, you must ask Reception to book. Walking distance.
