You can feel the sense of excitement as hundreds of sailors arrive in Bodrum for the 28th year of the Bodrum Cup and a group of them arrived at the Hotel to make all the last minute preparations before joining this International regatta. Originally for the traditional Wooden gulets this has expanded to include many different classes including yachts of all shapes and sizes. In the late October sunshine there is an amazing site as some 120 boats gather for the start in the shadow of Bodrum castle. Sails of many colours were highlighted in the brilliant sunshine as the fleet set of for a journey lasting 6 days across the Aegean taking in the Greek Island of Leros, and the beautiful ports of Gumusluk and Yalikavak on the Bodrum Peninsula. At every port the Mayors laid on music and entertainment culminating in a magnificent winners ceremony at Halicarnus, the largest outdoor music venue in the Eastern Mediterranean.

On of our guests Andrew Doyle stated “We have been sailing in the Bodrum Cup for a number of years and it is a highlight of our year. The Weather in England is often dull at this time of the year and coming to Bodrum in brilliant sunshine, sailing around the Aegean and stopping in the Su Hotel is an absolute pleasure. Zafer and Ali were very helpful with all the last minute preparations for our voyages, collecting the crew from the airport and introducing us to the best restaurants in Bodrum”
